Braddon is a Newcastle based artist, born in 1968 in Belmont, Lake Macquarie on the East Coast of Australia, where his affinity with sea began, and it has been his life with the sea that has incubated his aesthetic and informed his understanding of material, form and space.

Now, an established practicing artist, Braddon has combined his extensive education (qualifying for a Master of Fine Art in 1999) and exhibition record with his life experiences and an earnest investigation of sculpture, to consolidate a formidable arts practice that has a dual focus on Public art and gallery exhibitions / installations in Australia and Internationally.

Braddon is also a dedicated teacher, committed to passing on his skills and knowledge, drawn from his extensive experience, to students of sculpture at Newcastle Art School.

Career highlights include: International Sculpture Festa (ISF 2012) and Symposium Seoul, South Korea; Public Art projects Vantage Port Stephens, NSW, Australia; Finalist in the Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize 2009; Completion of The Journey a public art installation for the Mental Health Unit at The Mater Hospital, Newcastle Australia, 2009; Selection as a finalist in the prestigious McClelland Sculpture Survey & Award 2007 at the McClelland Gallery & Sculpture Park, Victoria – one of the two premier sculpture awards in Australia; Completion of The SubWharfyen for Sydney Wharf, 2008; Selection in Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2003-20010 – winning the Unrepresented Sculptor Award in 2003; Completion of A Drop in the Ocean, a major public artwork/play sculpture for Newcastle City Council, 2005. unClassified, a solo exhibition at John Miller Gallery, Newcastle 2008; Negotiating the Void, a solo installation at Newcastle Region Art Gallery, 2004.
